軍事分析家認為川普的推文將讓洛馬降低F-35生產成本的壓力大增，整個計畫預計耗資四千億美元（約十二點九兆台幣），生產二千四百架戰機供美國空軍、陸戰隊與海軍使用，目前已生產兩百架。海軍傾向每艘航空母艦上配置兩個F-35中隊和兩個F-18中隊。F-18是很優秀的艦載攻擊機，配載武器比F-35多，目前造價約便宜三成。
